As we dive deeper into the world of Eric Carle we are learning to appreciate his artwork and playful stories that have an important meaning while incorporating important skills and knowledge. This week we have been visited by two hermit crabs (thank you Whitefields) and they have really brought A New House for Hermit Crab to life. The children have loved learning about hermit crabs and other sea creatures as we compare and contrast the different animals who join Hermit Crab on his shell.
I have also been enforcing the importance of chores and meaningful work with the children. We have been cleaning toys, folding laundry, washing dishes, cleaning tables, sweeping, taking out the trash, stacking chairs and cleaning out cubbies. I encourage you to have your children help with things around the house and give them chores. Eventually these "chores" become habits that children will complete without thinking.
